How to use a "Without Prejudice" letter to settle with your employer
Content / trigger warning
I think we all conceptually understand that you can settle with your employer, right?
People get paid by their employers because they have been mistreated by them or because they want to be paid to leave.
But how do you actually have that conversation with your employer? How do you negotiate a settlement?
So there are two main ways to do this.
Some people will use ACAS conciliation and some people want to approach their employer directly, sometimes before they even need to go to ACAS.
And to approach them directly, people typically use what's called a "Without Prejudice" letter. Without prejudice is really just kind of legal for "off the record."
If you don't know how to write that letter, that's cool. We actually have a template to help you write it where you can lay out exactly what happened and exactly what you want as a result.
